Curves

I'm finding curves in my life recently. After the course of my work hit a nadir of inactivity (for which I can only partially blame on being photo editor at the Texan), I feel like I'm accelerating back towards productivity. It's refreshing to go follow my bliss and make something out of chaos. For the first time in what feels like a long time, things are looking up up up.

Blah blah, anyways.

Questa wears a unique garment hand sewn by Anslee Connell a.k.a. Savannah Red. I found these lovely ladies during an eastside excursion at Space12. Tomorrow I'll go to her fashion show, "Retro Curves" and continue documenting her work. This ties into my economy project for Eli Reed's class... I hope. I think so.

Gizmo the Welch Corgi

Taken with my new favorite twilight lens, the 200mm f/2 Nikkor.

Jerry Akin

Jerry Akin, a retired East Austin resident, watches an approaching thunderstorm from the porch of his rent house.

All my equipment keeps breaking. And by all, I mean one or two really important things. The Nikon-to-EOS adaptor I had on my 35 literally fell apart last night while shooting a play. Then a pin snapped off inside my card reader (thus why there's no photos of said play yet). Sigh. I wish I could say "they don't build them like they used to," but they never built these gizmos.

Congress Bridge Bat Panorama

New blog banner? Mayhaps. This would make an incredible print. It's literally two 5D frames right next to each other. Taken at Batfest with a 200mm f/2

4th of July

I felt like I wasn't producing enough work this summer. I'm putting an end to those feelings. I went out on the 4th of July to Barton Springs to see what Austinites would give America for its birthday. These are their answers.

The sound is definitely crumby, but I recorded it with my iPhone and mixed it in Audacity. I really really want to invest in a good sound recorder now.

Later that night, I went to a spectacular fireworks show at Auditorium Shores with Dave, Karina, Maxx and Peyton.

The Subject of Much Controversy

With Valentine's Day coming up, we did a themed issue of DT Weekend. This was the cover. It certainly got people talking. John Kelso of the Statesman wrote his column about it today. I haven't talked to anyone yet who was outright offended by it, soooo... I'll mark this one down as a success I suppose?

Here's last week's cover.

Back again

Howdy folks. I had an interesting break, as always. I'll be picking up a new 24" iMac soon, meaning I'll be able to process and post a whole lot more stuff.
